Dia de Muertos - Day of the Dead

Here is my altar for 'Dia de Muertos' - Day of the Dead. It's sort of like Halloween, but without all of the Walmart-induced plastic capes etc rubbish.

The altar has 'offerings' like beans, and sugar, and flowers, and candles, in rememberence of those who have died. There were loads of them in the streets of Colima, and when we went to Puerta Vallarta, so it would appear to be a pretty common occurence in many towns across Mexico.

This altar was set up in my house and was made with a little help from my spanish teacher and a classmate, Sidsel.

My very first post! How very exciting!

Hola chicas y chicos!

So... Since arriving in Mexico three months ago, I have been keeping quite busy doing things. And now I have the technological know-how to tell you all about them.

However, I know that these blog-things can get a tad tedious, so this will have more photos than words, just so that you can hopefully get a bit of a feel for Colima and my Mexico-life-in-general.

Hasta luego!
