Dia de Muertos - Day of the Dead

Here is my altar for 'Dia de Muertos' - Day of the Dead. It's sort of like Halloween, but without all of the Walmart-induced plastic capes etc rubbish.

The altar has 'offerings' like beans, and sugar, and flowers, and candles, in rememberence of those who have died. There were loads of them in the streets of Colima, and when we went to Puerta Vallarta, so it would appear to be a pretty common occurence in many towns across Mexico.

This altar was set up in my house and was made with a little help from my spanish teacher and a classmate, Sidsel.

Hi Gemm,

This reminds me of the rather obscure play we went to see at the Dukes.

Interesting to finally find out what it was all about.

All is well in Lancaster. I'm heading to Scotland for the weekend with Marius and hoping for good conditions. Big dumps of snow last week so things are looking good.

Catch you later, Neil
